Buy from AKTretail.com

For VCP/NDK style of hatch covers, cockpit covers, PFDs, latex gaskets on dry tops/dry suits and many other items, 303 Protectant will extend their life tremendously. Kokatat even includes samples with their dry suits.

How often you should use 303 depends on the type of product and amount of time in the sun. A cockpit cover on a kayak stored outside in direct sunlight should be done much more frequently than a boat stored indoors and only exposed to UV during transport to trips. As a general guideline; Latex should be 303ed once a month, VCP/NDK style of hatch covers should be 303ed a couple of times a year, PFDs and other nylon product should be done every couple of months.

303 PRODUCTS say: 303 is THE LEADER in UV screening technology and 303 Protectant really is like "SPF 40 Sunscreen ... For Your Stuff." Regular use of 303 Aerospace Protectant can reduce UV caused slow-fade by up to 100%. No other protectant beautifies as intensely, protects as powerfully or lasts as long.

Ultraviolet Radiation

Photo of 32 once 303 Protectant.Only a small portion of solar radiation consists of invisible ultraviolet (UV) light. But the light in this spectral range is responsible for photo degradation. Photo degradation results in discoloration, fading, embrittlement, cracking, chalking and/or loss of mechanical properties. Chalking gelcoat fiberglass, yellowing plastics, fading and weakening fabrics and sunburned skin are all familiar problems caused by UV light. Before UV light can cause harm, it must first be absorbed. If it is not turned into heat or transferred to a nearby stabilizer molecule called a quencher, it breaks weak chemical bonds. This is the beginning of UV damage.

Some materials absorb UV light more readily than other materials. Materials that readily absorb UV light are quickly damaged...rubber, vinyls, gelcoat fiberglass, and many other plastics.

Summary

No matter what it's called - UV protection, UV screening, sunblock - to provide true UV protection in a maintenance product form, it is necessary to utilize effective, active chemical agents called UV stabilizers.

Untreated rubber, vinyl, and other plastics readily absorb and are degraded by UV light. 303 is the best UV protection money can buy. 303 Aerospace Protectant restores, beautifies, and lasts longer than anything else. Guaranteed!
