The Survival Hood has all the advantages and disadvantages of the Head Heater (above) plus keeps the neck warm. We perfer hoods over hats as you can slide them off your head when feeling warm and slip them back onto your head with one hand while holding the paddle with your other hand. This allows you to vent and prevent over heating when paddling hard. The Survival Hood along with a Head Heater or other type of hat is a good combination.
