Most people think of Neoprene as the stuff wetsuits and spray skirts are made of. Recently, many wetsuits are made from fuzzy rubber. Neoprene is a type of rubber which can be faced with nylon on one side (Neoprene 1) or both sides (Neoprene 2). We also use unfaced neoprene in a stiffer grade for knee pad outfitting.
Neoprene 1 can be glued with either face out. The unfaced side is stickier. The nylon side is stronger and will hold up longer.
We have unfaced neoprene in 1/4" and 1/2" thicknesses. Neoprene is softer and not as stiff as minicel. Mondo Bond is a good glue for both neoprene and minicel. Cut neoprene with a sharp razor blade or razor knife. For best results, cut the faced neoprene from the nylon side. As with minicel, you can shape it with a Dragon Skin.
