Kokatat Waist-Mount Touring Tow Tether

Since Salamander decided to cheapen their tow belt we had to find a new system that had everything we want. We like the Kokatat tow system, it is available with a 25 feet line or a 40 foot line. The shorter tow belt is ideal for many paddlers. Small, well built and easy to use. It is designed for calm to moderate sea kayaking. As it is only 25 feet long, this tow line is too short for rough water towing. Works well on all Hudson River, NY Harbor and Long Island Sound paddling in up to force three or four (small craft warnings) conditions. For force four conditions with following seas the longer line is needed. The carabineer is stainless steel with no gate indent which can interfere with hooking and unhooking the tow line. The carabineers also have an eye so that the line cannot fall off the carabineer. A foam float on the line to prevent the carabiner from sinking as on the Kokatat PFD tow system would be a nice bonus.
