Beginner’s Hudson River Kayaking Tour

This program is designed for people with limited or no paddling experience and for experienced paddlers looking for a short day of paddling.

Depending on the conditions of the day, exploring Black Creek, Esopus Island, and Mills Mansion are all possibilities, as well as sighting the occasional bald eagle. On most summer weekends, this Norrie Short Tour starts at noon. We will take advantage of the tides and wind of the day. Paddling north we will head to Scenic Hudson’s Esopus Meadows Preserve. Sometimes we get to the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse. Paddling south we head past the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, and down to Bard Rock at Vanderbilt Mansion on the eastern side of the Hudson or to the Payne Mansion Boat House.

The area is beautiful and there are many things you can do with the rest of your afternoon within the Park or take a tour of one of the historic mansions along the River. Rhinebeck and Hyde Park both have nice restaurants for lunch or dinner.

*Note: This is an adult program, but we will allow kids 12 and older on this kayak tour.

Please arrive 20-30 minutes before the program start time to get set up with your equipment so we can get the program started on time.
