Kayaking Tour in Saugerties
This kayak tour starts at the Glasco Mini Park Landing in Saugerties, two miles below the Esopus Creek. Heading south, we usually make our first stop at Ulster Landing Park.
After reaching the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge, we cross to the eastern shore and head north. We can explore South Tivoli Bay and see the Sawkill Creek waterfall at Bard College or stop on Cruger Island for a break.
Continuing north to Tivoli landing we can turn back to our starting point or head to the Saugerties Lighthouse.
If it’s windy and the river is rough we will need to do a shorter trip. Whatever we decide to do, this is a nice part of the Hudson to paddle. This kayak tour typically covers eight to 12 miles.
There are many good restaurants in town to enjoy after your Saugerties kayaking tour. Sue’s Restaurant is under two miles from the Glasco Launch site and is a casual Italian restaurant. You can walk around the village of Saugerties and find many different restaurants. For a very nice meal, the Diamond Mills overlooks the Esopus Creek waterfall. Our personal favorite in the village is The Dutch Ale House for a great pub meal. If you want an authentic Mexican meal El Rancho is a mile north of the southbound entrance to the NY State Thruway.
This program is very similar to our Tivoli Bays tour but leaving from the west side of the river. Take a look at Tivoli Bays for other dates.
Rental kayaks are limited on this program. Please email us to check if we have space to carry a kayak for you and have a kayak that is suitable for your size and skill level.
