High quality kayak equipment
For twenty years we have been running programs at Norrie State Park. The Norrie Point Paddlesport Center offers high quality kayak equipment. Over two dozen boats are available for use on our programs or to be demoed.
A full schedule of tours and instructional programs are offered from Norrie. The Norrie Short Tour is offered on most weekends plus holidays.
We don’t offer rentals from this location but do offer our Norrie Short Tour for only $75 including equipment. Programs are added throughout the season so check back for an updated schedule.
Norrie State Park has 46 campsites and 10 cabins. See Reserve America for camping information. Spend one day kayaking and the other day hiking.
“The numerous trails that thread through the grounds of both Mills and Norrie State Parks are ideal for walking, jogging, hiking, cycling, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing – treating visitors to fabulous views of the Hudson River which runs directly along the parks’ western boundaries”
Mills Mansion is adjacent to the Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park; together they comprise about 1,000 acres, including Esopus Island. The marina called the Norrie Boat Basin opened in 1952 and has about 150 slips. There is a public kayak launch in the Marina. The marina charges a fee for use of the boat launch including launching kayaks.
The NY State Department of Environmental Conservation has the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve located near the Paddlesport Center.
Rhinebeck is located a few miles north of Norrie State Park, and offers many good restaurants for dining after the trip. A few of our favorites include; Tarrapin, Gigi Trattoria, Foster’s Coach House Tavern, and for a mexican dinner Gaby’s Cafe.
Staff Opportunity
We are looking for a new staff member. This is a person who enjoys working with people both on and off the water at the Norrie Paddlesport Center. Paddling Skills is not the most important attribute as we can teach the needed skills. Willingness to help new paddlers and learn new skills is most important . Email us for more information.
